In the defence sector, every component has to be able to do a little more than usual. That‘s why SCHROTH develops intelligent safety systems that combine seats, restraint systems and airbags to create a cutting-edge survival unit.

Q: SCHROTH has been an innovative company for over 80 years, providing a complete survival unit for all personnel on military vehicles. Could we look at the key timelines that have lead to you being a military leader?

A: SCHROTH began military vehicle safety product development in the mid 2000s to support the US military, developing innovative products for all seat positions in troop carrying platforms.

SCHROTH USA Product Milestones:

  • 2005 - Released to market multi-point military Harness Restraint Systems
  • 2006 - Released to market the Gunner Restraint System (GRS)
  • 2010 - Released to market the Blast Energy Absorbing Turret Seat
  • 2012 - Released to market the Under Vest Restraint System (UVRS).

SCHROTH Germany Product Milestones:

  • 2002 - Released seat restraints to the European market
  • 2009 - Released our first Lightweight Utility Troop Seat for the European market
  • 2012 - Released our 2nd generation troop seat, including patented blast protection technology, to market.

  • 2026 - We will be promoting our upcoming release to the market at Eurosatory: our 3rd generation blast protection seat prototype for troop and gunner positions, for US, European and Middle East markets.

Q: One of the leading products that you sell throughout Europe and the Middle East is the SU-63 family of seats, what it is about them that attracts the military and sets them apart?

A: The SCHROTH offering has a lightweight, low profile, modular design, with exceptional blast protection at an attractive blend of affordability and improved survivability for the years to come.

Q: The new SU360 next generation mine blast seat is being introduced at Eurosatory in Paris, what new developments does the SU360 incorporate, for both troops and gunner positions?

A: The SU360 seat introduces the first SCHROTH seat with foldable back rest for standing gunner positions. The SU360 seat upgrades the blast protection to support STANAG Level 4 vehicle platforms. It also introduces quick attach/detach modular add-ons for ear bolsters, shoulder bolsters, adjustable head rest, and foot rests for easier in-situ adaptability for the specific mission needs in a vehicle on the day.

Q: How can Schroth's SU360 also be part of the integrated safety units you are already supplying?

A: SU360 integrates our industry leading restraints into the seat platform, with our patented energy absorbing webbing and inertia reel design.
